A LUNATICS LAMENT !

Vampires... exist.
Werewolves... are real.
Hunters... are fearless.
And the mortals... know nothing at all.

For centuries, the supernatural were in command. On one side, the proud and noble vampires held power over a multitude of Clans, placing the fear of night and shadow in their human prey. They were in constant struggle amongst themselves, but there was no enemy greater to them than the werewolves. They wanted power over everything, as ambition was in their nature.

Werewolves were pack-oriented creatures. They stuck to their packs and mated for life, always protecting their young and their boundaries from the vampire enemies. They were most dangerous during the full moon, when a transformation occurred and a stirring desire for human flesh erupted in their minds. The mortals learned to lock their doors during those nights.

But then came the hunters. A determined group of mortals who wanted the threat of the supernatural gone for good. At first, they were laughed off and easily dismissed by both groups. But by the time the group led their attack and eradicated many of the supernatural beings, it was clear that they were not to be taken lightly. Little by little, the furious immortals were driven back into hiding, merely shells of the former proud, violent beasts they had been before. And over the years, the calming words the hunters gave the mortals convinced them that there was no such thing as monsters, that the thing hiding in their closet was but an illusion. There were more than just vampires and werewolves lurking in shadow, but they were by far the most dangerous.

Now, almost eight hundred years since that dreadful downfall, there are almost no immortals left. Most of the noble vampire Clans have been eliminated, the packs destroyed. Those few that remain don't dare show their true colors for fear of those that still hunt, that still uphold the vow that one day the world will be entirely freed from the clutch of the supernatural. And in this world exists a tiny, insignificant town marked on no known map, where some of the immortals have found their solace. But hunters exist here, too, and so the creatures must keep a low profile. How long can things last before a fight breaks out that neither side can hide from those the hunters protect, and the immortals prey upon?
