First, I seriously found this forum by typing in gleerp.proboards.com hoping I'd find something totally awesome. And I did. I'm so excited! Lol. Second, I had no idea where to put this so I figured here was okay. Correct me if I'm wrong, please. So... On to the question. Maybe I just didn't read as thoroughly as I thought, but I didn't see anything about a character cap anywhere, but I'm just wondering, is there a sort of everyone-knows-in-their-heads limit to the number of characters, like... no one goes over, say... three, for example? Or is there an unstated one-character-per-person rule that everyone abides despite it not being written anywhere? I have a few people I have in mind I want to use for characters, so... just need to know what I'm restricted to so the decision will be easier (yet harder at the same time--I'm so attached to all my potential pbs!). If it makes a difference, I have two I'd use for teachers, one I'd use for a lower staff member (secretary or assistant or... something), one as a student... and one I have no idea what to do with, just utterly clueless with him... Anyway, yeah... Sorry if it seems like a stupid question or if this has been answered somewhere and I just didn't see it. I looked, really!

it's not a stupid question at all because I know that every RP site I've been on varies on it's character limit.
In any case I believe our unspoken rule is as long as you're proven to have competent writing ability then the limit right now is capped at 2 characters, while we're still working on rebuilding the site. I think that any more than that at this point will just lead to confusion, but as time goes on and we get more people I'd be willing to review the idea of one RPer having more than that.

Alrighty. Thanks so much! There was another question brewing but I lost it... so hopefully I remember it. But another question (I'm so full of those, aren't I--there's another one), is it frowned upon to not play a canon character? I worry about that for some reason, but I just cannot roleplay characters that didn't come from my mind--especially when it comes to Glee (I didn't start watching until they did Lady Gaga...).
...And yet another question, but I don't think it's the one I lost earlier... May I roleplay a teacher, and if I can... what positions are available?

I mean I know that canon characters are usually preferred...I guess the only issue I usually have with OCs is the fact that people so often don't somehow associate them with the core group of characters and they almost become alienated from the plot somehow. As long as you can make an OC that is essentially integrated somehow into the group (i.e, member of Glee club, football player, cheerleader, friend of (insert character here), whatever thing comes to your mind) then I've seen some very well executed OCs that have made me wish they were part of the regular fandom.
As for RPing a teacher, if you think you can make it work, the more adults the merrier...it would lead to a more dynamic RP I assume to not just have it be mainly students. I'd leave you free reign on what position you'd like to take up though I would avoid doing something too obscure, like since it's been established most of the kids take Spanish...a French teacher might be a bad idea. If you want to run any ideas by me I'd be willing to tell you whether it sounds like a good idea or not ;D

Well, since I make "epic fail" sound amazing compared to how I roleplay canon characters, original characters are pretty easy for me to toss in to something. I actually have a "fantasy" character for Glee (I love to daydream and make "what if" things) but I won't use her because... well, her past and some elements of her present might not be... appreciated? Can't think of a better word to explain what I mean. But anyway, back from my wiki walk, ICly I usually have no difficulty getting into the plot and meeting new characters, it's just getting me there OOCly; I'm naturally shy and feel like I'm intruding when I join new forums, so I'm reluctant to jump in and just get stuff done. But you're being so nice! It's reassuring.
As far as teacher's subject goes, I'd totally teach German, but that's just me. I was actually thinking of American Literature. I love reading, and classics are amazing (particularly interested in urban legends and ghost stories/similar lore, though). I also thought about British and World Lit., but not many students, realistically, would be interested in it. Then again, we could make it so one semester it's American Lit., and the next Brit./World Lit. I dunno, just a thought. I'd offer for English but in all honesty I hate English classes. I don't need to know the name of every rule--I already know what all the rules are and their function. Give me something juicy! At least literature is fun, if you do it right.
Also, another question. Aha. If I made a student character, which I'd do eventually anyway, would he or she (she) be allowed to have Asperger's Syndrome? I know it's a rare and sort of... interfering disorder , but it's something of an educating experience when a character has it, for the player of that character and the other players surrounding them--and I'm completely for spreading awareness and knowledge about it.
Sorry if my 20 Questions is annoying. There's just so much I want to know!

Since your bottom question caught me first I'll answer that...I am personally fine if you have a character with Asperger's, I have mild Asperger's myself so it's something I would probably appreciate seeing covered. My only little thing that I ask on any character that has a...specialty trait I suppose I would call it, I don't want it to be super defining. Like for an example, Artie's in a wheelchair, and while there are episodes focused on his chair and the issues he has...he's not completely defined by it. So I'd be okay with an Asperger's sideplot as long as it didn't completely interfere with the character itself. I've just had a lot of bad experience with OCs in the past being too dramatic and ruining the mood of the RP-- not that I think you will, I'm just covering my bases beforehand. And not to sound vague, but I think that really any of those subjects would be interesting. In terms of plot cohesiveness, the combined Lit. classes sounds exactly like something I was forced to take around the same year the characters are, so I think it sounds pretty reasonable. Also don't worry about students wanting to take it...most American high schools care very little about want and it's more about fulfilling requirements As for the whole shy thing, really you don't need to worry...everyone is eventually new at this and even sometimes I get awkward and I've been RPing for a very long time now. Though if you need anything seriously don't hesitate to either contact myself or the other admins and I'm sure everyone would be more than willing to help you with anything you need.

Eee, Asperger's is more common than people seem to think. I have it too; it's actually so... comforting, knowing there's someone else in the same position as me in the same place. Not an identical situation, obviously... but you know what I mean, right? Anyway. Well, my character wouldn't be defined by it, but it is quite an interfering thing... I have Asperger's with OCD and it's awful. It got so bad I had to stop going to school... and it's still bad. I won't make her as severe as me, but... well, I can't exactly decide what I'm trying to say so I'll just stop talking on this subject for now, lol. Aha, I know... High schools are annoying in that way, aren't they? I wish we could just take whatever we wanted and be done with it. I can live without math and foreign languages, so... just give me the history and science, please. Alright, well, if it works, then I guess my teacher guy will be the American/Brit./World Lit teacher. Sounds oh-so-fun! Thank you so much! You really are very nice. :> I definitely will not be reluctant to ask for help, and I'm looking forward to talking to other members~. Thank you so much, again and again.
